If I were to give my life's most recent chapter a title it would be "in search of the lost chord", the chord that rings out with clarity and resonance, whose notes blend seamlessly, and whose dulcet tones envelop me.
The lost chord of harmony, of love and excitement when I share with others the wonder of the moment, the miraculous feeling when the fog and clouds clear and the valley below spreads in all directions within a ring of layered mountain tops, receding imperceptibly and endlessly into the horizon.
The lost chord of love and empathy and caring that raises me beyond my narrow, quotidian preoccupations and transports me into the blue expanses of sea and sky.
It's a chord of remembrances and recollections, of feeling the love stir in those disquieting ways that it fancies when it shows up. The unexpected chord that waits lying in surprise, appearing suddenly when your voice and guitar blend with another's to produce something neither of you could do alone.
I seek to fly or, if on land, to glide, to skateboard my way to the Expo, where the wonders await.
