Carryover items:
- Motorcycle adventure
- longer trips and retreats

NOTES:
Shadow ... if it makes you uncomfortable, it's probably shadow.
Generosity as a trait to be developed ... different types of generosity: listening, kindness, gifts.
Integration of shadow depends on awareness not will. Finding a different way of being.
Grief and gratitude-- need to carry both simultaneously.
Questioning John O'Donohue's credibility ... skepticism not based on external evidence. Triggering shadow and resistance? Need to tolerate ambiguity.
Not possible to go Deep and Fast.
Feeling insulated from the world's grief
Francis Weller Presentation of building a village for Soulful life -- Convivium. Primarily a sales presentation.
Slow and down ... two directions of soul -- Michael Meade
Object of the online program -- cultivate a living culture of soul
What is possible: James Hillman says The world and gods are dead or alive according to the condition of our souls.
Phrases: (You had some more ... please add them if possible)
Ritual helps people move through their sorrow.
The MBTI refers to shadow work as " being in the grip". We are thrown off balance and not at one with the world: we resist, procrastinate, obfuscate, deny, argue, discredit etc. all in the service of ego defenses. It's called shadow because it is always with us but not always apparent and it resides behind our persona, the face we present to the world and to our conscious self. Others do see it however, and it's the things about ourselves that are troubling to or difficult for others. The shadow contains the motives we prefer to not acknowledge or wish to downplay. It can also contain those qualities which we felt compelled to disown or abandon because they are unacceptable to others. It's the "Games We Play" in TA parlance.
(JW: Thanks, this is very helpful and good to have as a reminder.)

From the video "An Apprenticeship with Sorrow: Tending the Losses of Everyday Life.
We have to slow people down to the pace of soul. We need to learn the language of sorrow. We must carry grief and gratitude at the same time simultaneously. Therapy is saturated with loss "un-metabolized sorrow"
We forget and we've gone numb. We suffer from both amnesia and anesthesia as a culture.
We don't have joy, we have excitement.
Grief is wild and feral and we are afraid of it.
The fantasy of insulation has been cracked and we are entangled in the world.
The Long Dark is about transformation in the darkness.
(JW: Thanks so much for the helpful adds)
